Evie Ingle is a welder who creates beautiful artistic work to take to her daughter's grave. Evie's marriage to her husband Russ has been disconnected for years. His drinking has caused isolation in their marriage and relationship and as a result  Russ has become emotionally abusive. Evie spends her free time at the zoo where she finds peace and begins to fantasize about strange thoughts.
